In this episode, we talk with Melody Forsyth. Melody is a mother of 4 children and the family has embraced the outdoors and use hiking as a way to balance out everything life brings them. Melody’s youngest daughter Ruby was born with Down syndrome. At first, when the diagnosis came, Melody thought this would be the end of travels for the family. It turns out that Ruby is a true gift in the family’s life and has opened up the opportunity to get outdoors more than ever! We talk about her experience with Ruby in the outdoors, suggestions on ways families with special needs children can get outdoors, and hear what Ruby has taught Melody and the whole family.
